A four-day cascading training was conducted from January 12 to 15, 2023, in Addis Ababa with the objective of introducing COPMOD concept to representatives from hub facilities in the Afar, Amhara and Oromia regional cohorts and equip these professionals with the necessary knowledge and skill with regards to implementation tools that are vital for the purpose of system redesign. The training was provided by ACSIS team, comprising of Dr. Berhanetsehay Teklewold, Dr. Ishmael Shemsedin, Dr. Ermias Abate, Mr. Tadele Dana, Dr. Bethelhem Abegaz, Dr. Amanuel Girum, Dr. Zekarias Seife and Dr. Tsion Hiwot with Dr. Hayat Abdi as facilitator.

Participants of the training include CEOs, medical directors, quality department heads, nursing and midwifery unit heads as well as OBGYN department heads from coach and hub institutions in the three regions. The training was designed incorporating engagement activities in a manner that is inclusive of all participants providing opportunity for trainees to share experiences with peer learning. In order to ensure knowledge transfer, a follow up scheme has been set in place where trainees from hub centers will have a monthly learning platform with coach centers. During this learning session, the trainees will be able to apply the knowledge and skill they gained in this particular training towards the improvement of systems in their respective institutions. As such, through the implementation of a consistent post-training monthly reinforcement program of learning, we can guarantee the learning process continues and can be applied on the job.
